Forest of Bradford is an exciting initiative to increase woodland / tree cover throughout the district in partnership with its local community. The project was set up in 1998 with the aim of establishing 480 hectares of native woodland, equivalent to one million trees. Local schools, businesses, other organizations and individuals have helped develop and carry out the planting schemes.
To date, the project has planted 600,000 native trees / shrubs at over 350 different sites across Bradford district. In addition to new planting, the project offers advice and practical assistance with existing woodland management and can help draw in grant aid for this work.
Forest of Bradford enjoys the support of many volunteers, whose contribution has led to the success of the project to date. We have established regular volunteer practical days with special needs groups, long term unemployed, youth groups, schools and colleges, established environment groups and local businesses.
