Stoney Ridge Plantation, owned by Hallmark Cards is a wildlife rich, 22 acre broadleaved woodland situated only 3 miles from Bradford city centre. In 2010 Hallmark enlisted BEAT’s Forest of Bradford project to manage the woodland on their behalf. Since that time a variety of practical activities have been implemented to develop and enhance the woodlands landscape, wildlife and educational value
Step building and boardwalk construction by Bradford Environmental Education Service (BEES) has played an important role in developing the woodland as an educational resource. As a result of this work Belle Vue Girls School now have easy access to the woodland as an outdoor learning space.
The woodland is used as a training venue for Forest of Bradford volunteers learning such skills as dry stone walling, charcoal production and tree planting. Over the next twelve months a management plan for the woodland will be developed. The Forestry Commission approved plan will ensure the future of the woodland as a valuable resource for years to come.
Please note that Stoney Ridge Plantation has no public rights of way; access is strictly by arrangement only to preserve the peace and beauty of the woodland
