FOREST OF BRADFORD AWAY DAY EXPERIENCE

Introduction

For a team building away day with a difference that leaves a lasting positive impact on our climate and our local environment, join the Forest of Bradford team on a day of fresh air, exercise and a unique opportunity to contribute to the district’s woodland heritage.

Over the last ten years Forest of Bradford has worked to increase woodland cover in the district. To date, the project has planted over 410,000 trees and has a target of one million. We work with landowners on private and publicly owned land to develop planting schemes. These schemes may be large farm woodland plantings, small field corner copse plantings, school ground planting schemes or hedgerows.

The Day

We will take you to explore one of the few remaining areas of ancient woodland to survive modern development into the 21^st century.

You will learn how to identify some of the plants and animals that make up this special wildlife habitat.

You’ll also discover more about the history of woodlands in the district and the effect man has had on them over the years.

To round off the day and to make a real contribution to the targets to increase woodland / hedgerow cover in the Bradford district, we will carry out a planting scheme.

Your work will contribute to a positive landscape improvement, create a valuable new habitat for wildlife and help have an ameliorating effect on the climate, particularly on the incidence of flooding in the district.

Your area of woodland will be cared for by Forest of Bradford to ensure it reaches maturity and is there to be enjoyed by future generations.

NB: Minibus Transport will be provided, also waterproof clothing and footwear if required. Tools and plants for the tree planting will be provided as well as the expertise to help people to plant their trees.

Itinerary

9:30 Pick up staff from work base and travel to woodland
study site

10:00 Travel to ancient woodland to explore on an easy
1 - 2 mile walk through the wood

12:00 Packed lunch (pub lunch can be arranged)

12:30 Travel to tree planting site

1:00 - 2:30 Plant trees

2:30 - 3:00 Return to work place

Price

Includes transport, cost of trees and three year upkeep programme, equipment hire & expert staff time.

£500 (per group of 5 people)
