Learn the traditional skill of hedge laying on a weekend
course in the beautiful countryside near Cullingworth. Taught by working hedger Edward Kyrke,
catering for small groups / individual tuition, all tools and safety equipment provided.
Learn about hedgerow ecology, history, county styles and management. The course
is run over two days and is aimed at beginners, so no previous experience is
required. We hope to a fairly informal approach to the weekend, so as well as
learning new skills it will be a lot of fun.
Day 1
9:00 - 3:30
Introduction to hedge
laying and overview of course. Students showed how to use the traditional tools
of the trade safely. Working in pairs or alone to pick up the basic skills of
hedge laying.
Day 2
9:00 - 3:30
Reinforcing the skills
learnt on day one by working on your own stretch of hedgerow
Please bring:
Warm waterproof
clothing preferably close fitting to avoid snagging on thorns.
Stout boots with good grips or wellingtons.
